Kentucky, Duke Expected to Watch Hamidou Diallo at Peach Jam

NEW YORK — On Wednesday afternoon I stopped by NY Rens practice at Baruch College in New York and asked head coach Andy Borman what college programs had told him they planned on watching 2017 shooting guard Hamidou Diallo at next week’s Peach Jam.

“Everybody,” Borman told me. “Hamidou’s got offers from every high-major program that I know of.”

The 6-foot-6 Diallo is an explosive high-flying New York City native who plays for Putnam Science Academy (CT). He holds offers from Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse and UConn, among others.

“I know Hamidou talks to Kentucky, I would be surprised if they weren’t [at Peach Jam]. I know Duke will be there. I know Oregon will be there. I know UConn will be there. UNLV just offered him, so they’ll obviously be there.”

Coaches won’t only be on hand to check out Diallo, either. His fellow uncommitted Class of 2017 teammates include point guard Jose Alvarado and forwards Jordan Nwora and Jordan Tucker, who said he expects Duke to watch him at Peach Jam.

“Every single kid on our 17 team, all 10 of them are Division 1 kids,” Borman said. “All 10 of the are uncommitted, and they’re all still open. We don’t have any kids that are cutting lists or setting up official visits, we’re just not there yet. They’re going to get there on the back side of Peach Jam. So after Peach Jam, Hamidou has USA Basketball [U18s] and then I’m sure he’ll get there in August.”
