Jordan Tucker Planning to Cut List Soon

NEW YORK — Jordan Tucker plans to cut his list later this summer, possibly after Peach Jam.

“I’m trying to cut my list after that, to six, eight the most,” the 6-foot-7 wing from White Plains (N.Y.) Archbishop Stepinac told SNY.tv on Wednesday at Rens practice in Manhattan.

Tucker holds offers from a slew of high-majors, including Arizona, Syracuse, UConn, St. John’s, Maryland, Indiana, Oklahoma State, Marquette and Georgia Tech.

Duke has also reached out through associate head coach Jeff Capel.

“I’ve been hearing from Duke, Duke’s been on me,” Tucker said. “I’m just trying to get an offer from them. They said hopefully after Peach Jam if i play well that should all take care of itself.”

He added: “They like me, they just want Coach K to see me and he wasn’t out during live period.”

He also said he hopes to visit Duke going forward.

“For visits, I want to take an unofficial to Duke,” he said. “It depends on how this whole Peach Jam palys out. I think they’ll still be interested in me.”

Heading into next week’s Peach Jam with the Rens, Tucker said the Duke interest has spiked his confidence.

“It gave me a lot more confidence and focus trying to prepare for Peach Jam,” he said.

North Carolina has also shown interest but hasn’t offered.

“More Duke than North Carolina that I’ve heard from,” he said.

A slew of big-time schools are expected to watch the Rens, who also feature uncommitted 2017s Hamidou Diallo, Jordan Nwora and Jose Alvarado.

“All the schools that offered me, they’re obviously going to watch me,” Tucker said.

St. John’s technically doesn’t have any scholarships for 2017, but will likely watch Tucker.

“Of course, they’re going to see me play out of respect,” he said.

Tucker most recently visited Maryland before he was cut from the USA U18 team in Colorado.

“The Maryland visit was cool,” he said. “Coach [Mark] Turgeon wasn’t there, I went around with coach Bino [Ranson]. He told me what Coach Turgeon was telling me, how i would fit in the offense. They want to see me play a lot harder.”
