John Calipari on Louisville Allegations: ‘I hope it’s not true’

Cal-PitinoJohn Calipari was asked during Kentucky’s Media Day on Wednesday whether he has reached out to his in-state rival Rick Pitino about the Louisville scandal.

“I haven’t, but I would say I hope it’s not true,” Calipari said. “If any of it is, it’s not good for college basketball. It’s not the norm. And I would say this: If any of it is (true), I can’t believe [Pitino] would know anything about it just knowing him as I do. But no, I haven’t reached out. I just didn’t think it was appropriate.”

In her new book, “Breaking Cardinal Rules,” Katina Powell alleges former Louisville staff member Andre McGee paid her and other dancers to strip and have sex with recruits and players.

Pitino has denied knowledge of the activities in the book. Four separate investigations have been launched to review the allegations.
