West Virginia Lands 6-Foot-10 Maciej Bender

West Virginia on Sunday landed a pledge from Maciej Bender, a 6-foot-11 forward out of Grundy (VA) Mountain Mission School.

“Maciej is a very special player,” said Justin Dempsey, an assistant at Mountain Mission. “He is 6-11, very agile, can handle it, shoot it from 3, and has a very high basketball IQ and skill set. He has a solid post-up game and can use either hand and he jumps very well. He passes it very well.

“Th kid has a chance to be very very special. He may be the most underrated 4-star in the country and I’m not exaggerating.”

Bender is West Virginia’s fourth commit in 2016, joining point guard Brandon Knapper, shooting guard Chase Harler and power forward Sagaba Konate.
