Recruiting Roundup: Breein Tyree to Ole Miss, Coach K to Visit Wenyen Gabriel, Bam Adebayo Visits Auburn, Kobi Simmons Cuts to 3

Breein Tyree, a 6-foot-2 point guard from St. Joe’s-Metuchen High School and the Sports U AAU program, verbally committed to Ole Miss on Monday.

The No. 43-ranked point guard in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sportscom, he also considered Kansas State and UMass.

“Breein’s upside is off the chart,” Sports U coach Brian Coleman said. “He had a tremendous summer. He’s getting more comfortable running the point. That helped him develop his court vision and his leadership skills. Everyone knows he’s a tremendous athlete but he’s developed so many other phases to his game.

“He’s become a deadly outside shooter from 3. And now he established a mid-range game with his pull-up jump shot and floater. Along with his ball-hawking defensive ability, I think the sky is the limit for Bree.

“He’s going to be a fantastic point in the SEC. He reminds me a lot of [former Sports U guard] Wade Baldwin and we can see what kind of college career he’s having thus far.”

COACH K TO VISIT WENYEN GABRIEL FOLLOWING KENTUCKY OFFICIAL

WenyenFollowing his official visit to Kentucky over the weekend, 6-10 forward Wenyen Gabriel will host Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on Tuesday, Wilbraham & Monson coach Mike Mannix told SNY.tv.

“Duke is coming tomorrow but we don’t expect any other visitors this week,” Mannix said. “He had a great visit with Kentucky and is taking some time this week to get back on the court and in the weight room.”

Duke on Sunday landed a pledge from 6-9 Javin DeLaurier and is also in the mix for center Marques Bolden and forward Harry Giles as they seek to replenish the front court to replace outgoing bigs Marshall Plumlee and Amile Jefferson.

Gabriel visited Kentucky after earlier visiting Maryland. He will visit UConn (Oct 2-4), Providence (Oct. 9-11)  and Duke (Oct. 16-18).

BAM ADEBAYO VISITS AUBURN

BamAuburn and coach Bruce Pearl had a huge recruiting weekend in which they landed 6-10 2017 big man Austin Wiley and also hosted 6-10 2016 stud Bam Adebayo.

“Bam doesn’t say much,” High Point Christian (N.C.) coach Brandon Clifford said. “Just said he had a good time.”

Adebayo will take an unofficial to N.C. State on Saturday, a source confirmed.

N.C. State has already landed 2016 point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and would love to package Adebayo with him.

Kobi Simmons, a 6-4 point guard from Alpharetta (GA) St. Francis, has cut his list again.

Simmons is down to Kentucky, UNLV and Ohio State, cutting Georgia from the list. He has taken officials to all three schools, but has not announced a date for his commitment.
