Bryce Aiken Eyeing Timeline for Decision

AikenELIZABETH, N.J. — With his last official visit coming up this weekend to Miami, Bryce Aiken is coming close to a college decision.

The 5-foot-11 point guard from the PSA Cardinals and St. Patrick’s High School plans to make his decision within a couple of weeks after the Miami trip.

“I have one more visit, going down to Miami this weekend,” Aiken told me Wednesday at a St. Pat’s open gym that featured coaches from Arizona, Georgetown, Indiana, Boston College and Hofstra. “So far I’ve been to Harvard and Seton Hall, and this is my last visit coming up. So after that I’ll discuss it with my family and with those people I have a lot of trust in and I’ll make my decision after that.

“I want to make my decision within two weeks of the last visit.”

Aiken visited Seton Hall last weekend with South Kent (CT) guard Myles Powell who pulled the trigger for the Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

“I have never gotten a chance to play with Myles, I’ve played against him numerous times,” Aiken said.

Aiken told SNY.tv on Saturday he would “love to play” with Powell and the other Seton Hall players, too.

“I like everything about Seton Hall pretty much, they have a balance of athletics and academics and they play in the Big East,” Aiken said. “I have a great relationship with the coaching staff and the players, and everyone with Seton Hall basketball. I think they’re on their way up.”

Aiken is also very close with Seton Hall associate head coach Shaheen Holloway, a St. Pat’s alum.

“I consider Sha family,” Aiken said. “I come to him for any advice. He’ll give me any advice, not just about Seton Hall but about making a decision about what would be the best fit for me.”

As for Miami, Aiken previously told SNY.tv: “Coach [Jim] Larrañaga and Coach [Chris] Caputo do a terrific job of recruiting not only me but my family as well. The staff believes in my abilities as a player, looks forward to putting the ball in my hands and allowing me to run the team. The location of the school is superb, being in Coral Gabels, Florida.”
