Cassius Winston to Michigan State, Already Working on Miles Bridges

CassiusCassius Winston, a 6-foot-2 point guard from University of Detroit (MI) Jesuit, announced for Michigan State on Friday.

Winston, ranked the No. 5 point guard in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports.com, also took officials to Stanford and Pittsburgh.

He averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game with The Family on the Nike EYBL circuit.

“His offense was really expanded. The element I really took note of was the improvement in consistency of his jump shot,” Sam Webb, a recruiting analyst for Scout.com, told The Detroit News. “He’s added a step-back jumper in his game and he can really keep quicker-footed defenders honest now. He can hit the 3, he can shoot off the dribble and he certainly can drive and finish with contact.”

Michigan State would love to now add Miles Bridges, which could be a possibility. Bridges is also considering Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan and Indiana, and visits Kentucky this weekend.

Bridges told me at the Peach Jam if he goes to Michigan or Michigan State, “I’ll have  Cassius go with me. but if I go to Kentucky or anywhere else, Cassius won’t go with me.”

Winston is already working on Bridges.

“That’s my guy,” he told Matt Charboneau of the Detroit News, who took the above photo of Winston putting on the Sparty hat.

Winston joins an already impressive Sparty class that includes 6-5 combo guard Josh Langford , the No. 4 combo guard in 2016 according to 247Sports.com, and 6-8 power forward Nick Ward, the No. 13 power forward.
