Recruiting Roundup: Xavier Simpson to Announce Wednesday; Zach Brown Visits UConn, Richard Freudenberg Hits Miami, St. John’s

Xavier SimpsonXavier Simpson, a 5-foot-11 point guard from Lima (OH) Lima Central Catholic, will announce his college choice on Wednesday, Scout.com reported.

He is coming off a visit to Wisconsin this past weekend and also visited Iowa State (Aug. 7) and Illinois (Aug. 28). Simpson cancelled a visit to Miami for this coming weekend.

One source close to the recruitment said he expects Simpson to pick Wisconsin.

Simpson averaged 15.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in the spring and summer with King James on the Nike EYBL circuit, while shooting 46 percent from the field, 35 percent from beyond the arc and 78 percent from the foul line.

GERMAN FORWARD TAKING VISITS

CMEa6rtWgAA7G0QFollowing a visit to Miami, German forward Richard Freudenberg will visit St. John’s on Wednesday for the second time in two months, a source confirmed to SNY.tv.

“The visit was great,” he told SNY.tv of his August visit to St. John’s. “But it was an unofficial visit. The coaching staff is huge!! And they [are] getting more international!”

The 6-8 forward also visited Boston College and Vanderbilt last month.

He averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 rebounds in the 2015 European U18 Championships.

ZACH BROWN HITS UCONN

Zach BrownZach Brown, a 7-foot-1 2017 center from Miami (FL) Senior High, took an unofficial visit to UConn on Monday, his guardian confirmed to SNY.tv.

Kentucky and Miami are also involved for Brown, ranked the No. 3 center in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports.com.

Brown holds offers from UConn, Miami, Kansas, Florida, NC State, Ohio State, UCLA, South Carolina, and Virginia.
