Taurean Thompson Visits Rutgers; Xavier, Syracuse Up Next

4_3600246Taurean Thompson, a 6-foot-9 power forward now at Brewster (N.H.) Academy, took an unofficial visit to Rutgers on Wednesday and will visit Xavier and Syracuse in the coming weeks, his mother told SNY.tv.

Thompson, who just transferred from St. Anthony High School in Jersey City where he played for Naismith Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley, had been to Rutgers before and added another visit on Wednesday.

He will then take an official visit to Xavier this weekend. Thompson will also visit Syracuse on the third or fourth weekend of September after picking up a scholarship offer from the Orange, his mother said.

Thompson also recently visited Maryland, as first reported here.

Thompson has battled injuries throughout his high school and AAU career but is a talented big man with a high ceiling. He is currently coming off a broken rib suffered during the second half of the AAU season with the NJ Playaz.

“He just got cleared so his focus right now is taking care of his body,” his mother said. “He is much better than before and staying healthy.”

Thompson holds offers from numerous schools, including Syracuse, Xavier, Arizona State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Temple, St. Joe’s and Rice. He has also taken unofficials to Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Joe’s and Temple.
