Kevin Huerter Enjoys Villanova Visit, Plans to Take All 5

4_3726115Kevin Huerter, a 6-foot-6 2016 point guard from Clifton Park (N.Y.) Shenendehowa, enjoyed his official visit to Villanova this week but still plans on taking all five of his official visits before deciding.

Huerter is set to visit Maryland (Sept. 4-6), Michigan (Sept. 12-14) and Notre Dame Sept. (24-26), and is also considering Iowa, Indiana, Creighton and Davidson.

“They loved it, loved everything about it,” Albany City Rocks coach Jim Hart said of Huerter’s family trip to Villanova. “[The staff] couldn’t have laid it out any better. He’s going to take the four remaining visits, go home and then make the decision. They’re not the type of family that’s going to pull the trigger on campus.”

Hart said Huerter bonded with the current Villanova players, including incoming point guard Jalen Brunson and his father Rick, a former NBA player. Huerter’s father, Tom, played college ball at Siena and was part of the team that upset Stanford in the first round of 1989 NCAA Tournament.

“[Kevin] loved the players, he played with the guys on campus, hung out with them,” Hart said. “The coaching staff laid out really well how they’re going to use him at both guard spots, the one and the two.

“Kevin’s dad is a former player at Siena. They talked to the Brunsons a lot. They really enjoyed everybody there. The dad had a lot in common with Brunson’s dad because they played around the same time.

“It was just a great visit.”

Villanova currently has one pledge in the Class of 2016 in big man Omari Spellman.

Next up for Huerter is Maryland this weekend.
