Lance, Dexter, Greg at adidas Nations

Lance Stephenson, Dexter Strickland and Greg Echenique are among those who are participating in the adidas Basketball Experience, which began Thursday in Dallas .

The adidas Basketball Experience includes eight international teams, each of which will be coached by a former NBA head coach and will include current NBA players as mentors. Paul Silas is the Executive Head Coach of the American team. Each of the seven regional teams will consist of 12-15 of the top players from each region.

The American team includes Derrick Favors of Atlanta, perhaps the No. 1 player in the Class of 2009; Stephenson of Brooklyn Lincoln; and North Carolina commit Strickland of St. Patrick. Dominic Cheek of St. Anthony was originally invited, but will not attend.

The 6-9 Echenique, part of Fred Hill’s incoming recruiting class at Rutgers, will play for South America.

The camp will feature eight international teams – Africa, Asia Red, Asia Blue, Canada, Europe, Latin America, US 2009 and US 2010 – along with sixteen NBA players and coaches acting as adidas Nations Head Coaches and NBA Mentors.

NBA players Antawn Jamison, TJ Ford, Josh Smith, Kyle Lowry, Desmond Mason and Raymond Felton will be on-site to assist the young players and mentor them throughout the camp. Silas, Detlef Schrempf, Terry Stotts, Larry Krystowiak, Lionel Hollins, Frank Johnson, Ed Schilling and Dwane Casey will act as regional Head Coaches.
