Why last night?
Because Eric Clapton played with the band at the Beacon Theater on Thursday and Friday.
So I go up to the Beacon around 3 p.m. to see if the box office has released any extra tickets and a guy on the street offers me two tickets in the third row from an envelope he’s holding in his hand.
“Are these real tickets?” I asked him several times.
“Oh, yeah,” he reassured me.
So I go into the bank machine to get cash, I come out and hand the guy the money in exchange for the tickets. He walks away.
I look at the tickets again and I notice they say “The Allman BROTERS’ on the face. First off, “brothers” is spelled wrong. Second, they’re called “The Allman Brothers Band.”
So I run back out on the street where the guy is negotiating with another woman.
“These are friggin fake tickets,” I say to him.
Then I hand him the tickets back and basically grab the money out of his hand.
I’m fortunate that he wasn’t that big of a guy, that he didn’t actively resist and that he hadn’t taken off.
Otherwise I’d be out a couple hundred bucks!
Anyway, the wife and I went to dinner and a movie instead of seeing Clapton and the Brothers…Too bad.

My friend and I were taken for $240 on Thursday night.
We should have known better, he was 1 block from the Beacon.
Last time I will try to scalp. We did meet Warren and Derek on the street
about 1/2 hour before the show started.
