New York City will once again feature two high-profile high school all-star games in August.
The Big Strick Classic will return to New York on Aug. 8, and the Under Armour Elite 24 returns to Brooklyn on Aug. 22.
Top players from across the country as well as New York and New Jersey stars like Rawle Alkins of Christ the King and Michigan-bound Tyus Battle of Gill St. Bernard’s could be featured in one or both games.
A year ago in the Elite 24 game, Cal-bound small forward Jaylen Brown went for 23 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and Duke-bound big man Chase Jeter piled up 17 points and 15 rebounds as Team Liberty beat Team Freedom, 127-116, in the 9th Annual UA Elite 24 Saturday night in Brooklyn.
A year ago in the Big Strick Classic at the Gauchos Gym, Alkins took home co-MVP honors for Team NYC by scoring 17 points in a 137-135 win over Team USA.
Antonio Blakeney also won co-MVP honors and had 33 points for Team NYC. The 6-4 Blakeney later pledged to LSU.
