Marvin Bagley III, one of the top players in the Class of 2018, has been offered by Duke, after taking an unofficial visit there last week.
At 6-foot-10, Bagley has become somewhat of a phenomenon, and he showed two weeks ago in Suwannee, Ga. at the Nike Memorial Day Classic that he is worth every bit of the hype, where he dominated the 16U EYBL division.
Bagley, who will be a sophomore next year at Corona Del Sol (Ari.), told SNY.tv in an interview at the Nike MDC that playing in the East has made him tougher.
“It’s way different,” Bagley said. “Arizona isn’t as intense. Over here, every game, they really want to beat you, so you have to come out and play hard. Anything can happen, nothing is guaranteed. If you have a game that you are winning, you have to keep playing. Anything can happen.”
In his freshman year, Bagley averaged 19.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 blocks and 2.3 assists per game.
Bagley does have some North Carolina roots as well, with his father, Marvin Jr. playing football at North Carolina A&T.
Bagley now has offers from Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, UConn, Oregon, Arizona State, Memphis, San Francisco, Creighton, Northern Arizona, among many others.
