D. J. Harvey Taking Villanova Visit, Will Trip to Arizona This Summer

4_2970853WEST ORANGE, N.J. — Following his appearance in the Mary Kline Classic on Saturday night, D.J. Harvey planned a visit to Villanova.

The 6-foot-6 2017 shooting guard from DeMatha (Md.) Catholic says he’s always respected the Big East program.

“I’m taking a visit to Villanova [Sunday],” he told SNY.tv. “Every year they’re a scrappy team, Top 10 most of the time. Coach Jay Wright, I’m a big fan of his.”

Harvey has a long list of suitors and listed Duke, Arizona, Kentucky, Kansas, UConn, Villanova and Texas. He does not hold offers from Duke, Kentucky, Oklahoma or Ohio State.

“I’m also going to Arizona a few days before [the Nike Basketball Academy in Los Angeles in late June],” he said.

Harvey said he likes the players and fans at Arizona, as well as coach Sean Miller.

“I love the way he coaches, how close he is with the players,” he said.

He also grew up as a big fan of Duke and Kentucky.

“Just the tradition, the coaching, the players they put in the league and style of play,” Harvey said.

Harvey is working on his point guard skills at DeMatha but is a natural shooting guard/small forward.

“Hopefully in college I can play 1-4,” he said.
