
Division I programs carry 13 scholarship players, and Seton Hall chose to accept its punishment over the 2007-08 season, when it was permitted 12 scholarship players. The school was reportedly notified last summer.
Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year. The APR is based on the eligibility, retention and graduation of each student-athlete on scholarship. An APR of 925 equates to an NCAA Graduation Success Rate of about 60 percent.
Seton Hall was the only Big East program that suffered such a penalty.
