Villanova Transfer Dylan Ennis to Trim List, Duke in the Mix

10373049Villanova transfer Dylan Ennis will trim his list to three or four schools in the coming week and Duke is among the programs making a run at the veteran guard.

The 6-foot-2 Ennis is working with a list that now includes Duke, Purdue, Illinois, Tennessee, LSU, Georgia Tech , Baylor and Oregon.

“Right now we’re at a point where he released his list,” Tony McIntyre, the player’s father, told SNY Monday on The 4 Quarters Podcast.

“He’s been meeting with some of those coaches. We’re going to look to set up some visits and cut that list down to three, maybe four, for next week. And then really start to focus in on getting on campus, you know a a day at each school or something just so he can get a feel for it. Duke is involved in recruiting him and they do have a need for a point guard so it’s a matter of going through that process as well, just talking back and forth to get a date.”

Ennis averaged 9.9 points and 3.5 assists last season at Villanova.

“He’s looking for an opportunity to be in control of a team, come off some ball screens, be the primary ball-handler where he’s able to be that engine that drives,” his father said.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski is in need of a point guard for next season after Tyus Jones declared for the NBA Draft. Coach K was set to meet Monday night with Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton, who is considering reclassifying to 2015 from 2016, and is also being courted by Louisville for that plan.
