Aaron Rountree to Iona; Shelton Mitchell to Clemson; Marcus Foster to Creighton

oSYIl1DD_400x400Aaron Rountree, a 6-foot-8 transfer from Wake Forest, has committed to Iona and will be immediately eligible next season.

A Wilson, N.C., native, Rountree averaged 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds last season at Wake Forest.

He also visited George Washington, Central Florida and Charlotte.

With his addition to a core including A.J. English, Isaiah Williams, Schadrac Casimir and Kelvin Amayo, Iona could have one of its best teams ever.

SHELTON MITCHELL TO CLEMSON

Shelton Mitchell, a 6-3 guard originally from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, will transfer to Clemson from Vanderbilt and sit out a season.

“I just felt comfortable,” he told SNY.tv. “They recruited me when I was younger and I always loved the coaching staff. I just felt that was the right place.”

He averaged 4.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game at Vanderbilt.

MARCUS FOSTER TO CREIGHTON

9056091Marcus Foster, a 6-3 transfer from Kansas State, Tweeted that he had committed to Creighton during his official visit.

The Wichita Falls (TX) native averaged 12.5 points as a freshman and 15.5 points as a sophomore, but was dismissed from the team by Kansas State coach Bruce Weber following the 2014-15 season.

He must sit a year and then will have two years of eligibility at Creighton, where he could be a huge plus as the team transitions into the Big East.
