Caleb Swanigan, the 6-foot-8 2015 center from Fort Wayne (IN) Homestead High, committed to Michigan State and head coach Tom Izzo on the eve of the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore.
Next year I will be going Michigan State university. Once a spartan. Always a Spartan

The five-star center recently cut his list to seven schools consisting of some of the biggest names in college basketball and one that may surprise some. He also considered Cal, Kentucky, Purdue, Arizona, Duke and Chicago State.
Some thought he would end up at Cal in a possible package deal with 6-10 big man Ivan Rabb, who may also announce this weekend at the Hoop Summit.
Swanigan averaged 22.6 points and 13.7 rebounds this past season and was named 2015 Indianapolis Star Mr. Basketball.
Swanigan won gold last summer with the USA U17 team at the World Championship in Dubai, where he averaged 8.0 points and 5.7 rebounds in seven games, all victories.
“Caleb will be a perfect Big 10 player – outstanding rebounder with a nose for the ball,” USA U17 coach Don Showalter told SNY.tv. “He’s very powerful around the basket and finishes well with either hand. He has developed his midrange game nicely as he can step out to shoot the J!”
With the pledge, Michigan State now has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation behind Kentucky and Arizona, according to 247Sports.com.
Sparty also has pledges from power forward Deyonta Davis and shooting guards Matthew McQuaid and Kyle Ahrens.
