Oliver Still Waiting; Seton Hall to Puerto Rico

Melvinoliver3_14200A few quick Seton Hall notes….

***Big man Melvyn Oliver of Mississippi Elite Chritian Academy is still waiting on his LOI in the mail from Seton Hall.

“I talked to (Seton Hall coach) Bobby (Gonzalez),” Oliver’s coach, Victor Evans, said Wednesday night by phone. “They said they sent it out today so I’m waiting on it to get here. I’m just sitting around waiting.”

The 6-11, 340-pound Oliver committed to Seton Hall and took his official visit to South Orange last weekend.

***Jay Gomes reports that 6-7 forward Rob Robinson of Globe (NY) Institute has committed to Robert Morris. Robinson had been approached by various Big East and NEC schools, including Seton Hall.

***Seton Hall will head to Puerto Rico next season for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Nov. 20-23. Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com says the field includes The Hall, Xavier, USC, Virginia Tech, Missouri and Hofstra, with two teams to be announced. That should provide some good early season comp for Gonzalez’s club.

***St. John’s, meanwhile, will play in the preseason NIT at Boston College along with Cornell, BC and Loyola (Md.).
