A couple of prized big men are making recruiting news.
Jarrid Famous, the 6-foot-11 center out of Westchester (N.Y.) Community College, said he enjoyed his recent visit to Missouri and plans to visit Xavier next.
“Xavier is next, I don’t know when yet,” said Famous, the Mid-Hudson Conference and Region XV Player of the Year. “I promised Xavier a visit. Once I get done with them then I’ll take the next step.”
Famous visited Seton Hall last fall and recently made his first official visit of the spring to Missouri, where he stayed with junior guard and Staten Island native Zaire Taylor.
“The Missouri visit was real good, I enjoyed it,” he said. “I saw the game when they played Oklahoma on Senior Night. I had a pre-game meal with them. After the game, I kicked it with the players and got to know a little bit more about the program and get a feel for it.”
Famous has mentioned potentially taking visits to Louisville, Villanova, South Florida and UConn.
Meantime, DeMarcus Cousins of Mobile (Ala.) LeFlore is visiting Memphis unofficially this weekend for the Tulane game, according to Jerry Meyer of Rivals.
The 6-10 Cousins previously decommitted from UAB and both he and LeFlore coach Otis Hughley have called Memphis the favorite for his services.
“There’s no particular order other than Memphis is really strong,” Hughley said in a recent interview.
Washington, N.C. State, Kansas State and Rice are also in the mix.
