Asante Gist Transferring from Roselle Catholic

1264473

Asante Gist is transferring from Roselle (N.J.) Catholic, sources told SNY.tv.

The 5-foot-11 2016 point guard is headed to Marist High School, although he had yet to withdraw from RC as of Tuesday night, sources said.

Gist did not immediately respond to a text message seeking comment.

RC head coach Dave Boff had no comment.

Gist played on two state championship teams and is averaging 24+ minutes per game on a team that features Kentucky-bound guard Isaiah Briscoe, South Carolina-bound forward Chris Silva and Monmouth-bound forward Pierre Sarr.

Senior Taahir Pretlow is expected to start in Gist’s place.

RC is considered the favorite to win the New Jersey Tournament of Champions. They had lost two straight, including a 69-45 loss Saturday to DeMatha (Md.) Catholic at the HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Mass., before winning on Monday and Tuesday.

RC is now ranked No. 40 by USA Today after peaking at No. 2 before losses to Linden and DeMatha.
