2016 PF Tai Wynyard to Visit Kentucky, Villanova and Texas

BY JEREMY FUCHS

Tai Wynyard, a 2016 power forward from Rangitoto College in New Zealand, is set to visit Kentucky, Villanova and Texas next week, sources tell SNY.tv.

Wynyard begins his time in Lexington on Sunday, before heading to Villanova on Tuesday. He will finish his trip in Austin, arriving on Friday and leaving Sunday.

The 16-year-old helped lead his team to the Auckland premier championship, where he scored 24 points and grabbed seven boards.

Wynyard, a 6-9 forward, is the son of world champion woodcutters, and has played a few games with the New Zealand national team. In his first game for the Tall Blacks this summer against Korea, Wynyard scored six points and had five rebounds. Winyard’s mom reportedly had a basketball scholarship in Alaska, according to a report.

New Zealand has had success sending big men to America. Steven Adams, who played collegiately at Pittsburgh, is averaging 7.7 points for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sean Marks, a 6-10 center from New Zealand, played 13 seasons on a variety of teams.
