Rutgers, Seton Hall, Maryland Among Those Pursuing Devonte Green

Devonte GreenDevonte Green, a 6-foot-2 2016 combo guard from Long Island Lutheran pictured here with LeBron James and older brother Danny Green of the San Antonio Spurs, has been hosting his share of visitors recently.

Seton Hall assistant Tiny Morton and Rutgers assistant Greg “Shoes” Vetrone saw him on Sunday, and both schools have offered, Danny Green Sr. told SNY.tv.

“We are planning to visit Rutgers and Seton Hall soon, but no dates have been set,” Danny Sr. said.

Iona and Texas A&M have also offered, while Maryland, West Virginia, Oklahoma and North Carolina are also involved for Green, averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Danny Sr. said a visit to Maryland may be upcoming.

Meantime, Devonte also recently visited North Carolina, his brother’s former school and head coach Roy Williams is keeping tabs on him.

“Right now they’re plans are going to be determined by what [Marcus] Paige does,” Danny Sr. said.”If he goes, they might need another guard. If he stays they might not.”

Paige is currently projected at No. 45 in the 2015 NBA Draft by Draft Express.com.

Green is working on transitioning from a two to a one.

“This year’s he in the off guard position,” Danny Sr. said. “However, he does push the ball pushes. When coaches visit him, the first thing they notice is that he’s made a big improvement in getting other teammates involved.”

Green and Long Island Lutheran will participate in the SNY Invitational Jan. 23-24 at City College. For more info, click here.
