Only one day after watching targets Carlton Bragg and Jayson Tatum, Kentucky head coach John Calipari was in Marietta, Georgia to see Jaylen Brown, the No. 2 prospect in the 2015 class according to 247Sports.
With five current Kentucky players on the DraftExpress 2015 Mock Draft and with two more — Trey Lyles and Devin Booker — gaining more praise from NBA scouts, Calipari is wasting no time in looking to secure Kentucky’s fourth commitment in the 2015 class.
Since the Wildcats toppled No. 4-ranked and in-state rival Louisville, Calipari has watched the 247Sports 2015 Composite Rankings No. 2 player Brown, No. 3 player Malik Newman, No. 10 player Stephen Zimmerman and No. 16 player Carlton Bragg. Add to that impressive list, the No. 1 ranked player in the 247Sports 2016 class, Jayson Tatum, and you have a starting five that could rival several current D1 programs.
Kentucky has already secured signatures from the No. 1 point guard Isaiah Briscoe (Roselle Catholic, N.J.), the No. 1 center Skal Labissiere (Reach Your Dream Prep, TN) and the No. 15 shooting guard in Charles Matthews (St. Rita, IL), but expect Kentucky to potentially sign another two or three players to round out the 2015 class.
Brown is currently considering Kansas, Georgia, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Michigan and North Carolina along with Kentucky.
Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA have already received officials with Brown telling SNY.tv that, although dates have yet to be scheduled, he plans on utilizing his final two visits on trips to Michigan and North Carolina.
As far as his time in front of Calipari, Brown took full advantage, scoring 25 points in a 83-38 Wheeling win.
