Tom Izzo, Matt Painter Watch Caleb Swanigan

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo and Purdue coach Matt Painter spent Friday watching Caleb Swanigan, the 6-foot-8 power forward out of Fort Wayne (IN) Homestead.

Swanigan, who reclassed to 2015 from 2016, went for 30 points and 9 rebounds in a game Izzo watched Friday morning. He then went for 35 and 13 in a game Painter saw Friday evening.

“They both said he was even better than he was this summer and this summer he was the best big in the country,” said Swanigan’s guardian, Roosevelt Barnes.

Swanigan averaged 15.2 points and 11.9 rebounds this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit, leading the campaign in rebounding. He also won a gold medal with the USA U17 team at the World Championship in Dubai in August.

Swanigan is among the many high-profile 2015 recruits who plans to sign late.
