JUCO Forward Deshawn Freeman Enjoys Rutgers Visit

JUCO forward Deshawn Freeman of Hutchinson (KS) Community College enjoyed his weekend official visit to Rutgers.

“It was good,” he told SNY.tv before boarding his plane home.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound North Carolina native is being recruited by assistant Greg Vetrone and has a bond with head coach Eddie Jordan.

“He said he wants me to be a part of his team,” Freeman recently told SNY.tv. of Jordan. “He said their offense is just like the [Washington] Wizards. The Wizards was my favorite team when he was there.”

Numerous other schools are recruiting Freeman, including Arizona State, Seton Hall, Virginia Tech, Marquette and St. John’s, but he won’t take any more visits until the spring.

“Deshawn is a versatile, hybrid four man who is relentless underneath and on the boards,” Hutchinson assistant Jay Cyriac said. “He puts the ball on the floor fairly well and can be a matchup problem. His best days are ahead of him.”
