TRENTON, N.J. – A year ago, Doron Lamb and Shaquille Thomas attended school and played basketball in the heart of Northeast urban life, Lamb at Brooklyn (N.Y.) Bishop Loughlin and Thomas at Paterson (N.J.) Catholic.
Now the two young players are about as far out in the sticks as you can get.
The 6-foot-4 Lamb is playing for Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy, No. 2 in the RivalsHigh 100. The 6-6 Thomas competes for No. 99 Beckley (W.Va.) Mountain State Academy.

Nice article Adam. I played against Shaq for a couple years in high school and thought he was a pretty good player. I never thought hed be this high of a prospect. I am not trying to knock the kid because he is very athletic and long and can really get to the basket. I just have an opinion that Fuquan Edwin is a much better and more complete player. Edwin can really dominate a game and i feel the ratings of these two players should be reversed. There’s a lot of talent on that PC team that i think is better than Thomas. What do you think Adam? Also, what are the odds that Seton Hall could land Edwin and would Jordan Theodore being there already play any role in that? Thanks Zags.

I’m a big Fuquan Edwin fan and have been since his freshman year when he averaged a double-double. He’s kind of leveled off to some extent since then and needs to work on his handle and his mid-range J. That said, he would be perfect for Seton Hall and would score a lot of points in transition. “He scores like we breathe,” to quote Tom Konchalski.
Fuquan told me Seton Hall, Providence and Temple are his top three right now and he could decide before his senior year. I would think having Jordan on board would only help Seton Hall, but I know Providence and Temple also like him.

I agree with all your comments Adam, I think he could really help the pirates and thrive in Gonzo’s system. Playing in the BPSL is no chalenge for these guys and they basically do not even have to try to win every league game. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the numbers because he doesn’t even need to try and he can rest during the league games. I dont know just my opinion. I really hope the Hall can land him. Thanks a lot Adam.

Adam what else do you know about Edwin and does Providence have a serious shot at landing him ? What position and size is he ? Being a die hard Friar fan since I was 9(20years) I like the names that I’ve been seeing new coach Keno Davis in the mix with. I’ve also noticed that ESPN has PC as Shaq Thomas current #1 choice right now. Also Gerard Coleman, and Carson Desroises are being mentioned. Do you know if the Friars are legitimate candidates for any of these kids or any other high major talents that you may know of or is it just steam ? Also what do you think about Keno and and his staff on the recruiting trail ? I must admit he did a great job bringing in Council, Batts, and Lacy this year considering how late he got here. Do you think any of those 3 can make an impact ?
