Buffalo Lands 6-8 Shooter Navigato; Monmouth Gets 6-10 Big Man Quinn

NateBuffalo head coach Bobby Hurley continues to do work on the recruiting trail.

Buffalo on Tuesday landed a commitment from Nate Navigato, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound shooter from Geneva (IL) High and the Mercury Elite AAU program.

He also considered Lehigh and Toledo.

“After seeing everything they had to offer I fell in love with it,” he told SNY.tv. “I love the players, coaches, and school and my heart was telling me to go there.”

With the guards Buffalo has, Navigato’s shooting ability will space the floor when the playmakers get to the rim. Navigato has had games of 53 and 40 points as well as multiple 30+-point games, Mercury Elite coach Jim Thomas told SNY.tv.

“Nate Navigato will be a great addition to Coach Hurley’s team at Buffalo,” said Geneva coach Phil Ralston. “He is an extremely efficient basketball player who can shoot the heck out of the ball from the perimeter, has tremendous footwork in the post, knows how to get to the line and is almost a 90 percent free throw shooter.

“What makes him special is his ability to see the floor and make the extra pass. He is not only one of the most talented players, but the most unselfish player I’ve ever coached. He is something special.”

Navigato is Buffalo’s first 2015 commit.

MONMOUTH GETS BIG MAN QUINN

Monmouth landed 6-10 big man Diago Quinn from Lake Forest (IL) Academy, according to a report by Josh Newman of the Asbury Park Press.

The Washington Heights (NY) native is Monmouth’s first 2015 commit.

“He’s inexperienced, he’s only been playing four or five years, but he’s a kid that when he walks in the gym, he looks like a Division I player,” Lake Forest head coach Matt Vaughn told Newman. “He’s gotten stronger, he runs very well and he’s turning into a player that you can see will be a legitimate college center down the road.”

“We’ve had him since last year as a junior and he’s just improved tremendously. He’s not afraid to work and you can see his progression. He’s going to be a very good player. It might not be right away, but I expect it to happen.”
