Jaylen Brown Will Likely Wait Until Spring to Decide; Has Four Home Visits Set

LR- Jaylen Brown - Adidas Gauntlet Indy (Day 1)-1Jaylen Brown, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2015, will likely wait until the spring to make his college decision, his mother Michelle Brown told SNY.tv by phone Wednesday evening.

“We don’t want to rush into anything, we want to make sure we have weighed all our options and try to make the best decision possible,” she said, confirming earlier comments to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“This is a big decision for Jaylen. Jaylen wants to be taking into account everything that he needs to be successful first in academics and then athletics. Just the whole school being a combination, being able to relate to the team and the coach as well to be a mentor and take him from being a young adult to a man.”

Still, she said it was possible her son could pull the trigger before the spring if he makes up his mind.

“Most likely it may be that timeframe [in the spring] but if he feels right before that he’ll decide then,”  she said.

As previously reported, Brown is set to take official visits to Kansas Oct. 10 for “Late Night in the Phog” and “most likely” to Kentucky Oct. 17 for “Big Blue Madness.”

“Most likely we’re just kind of nailing that down this week,” she said. “Most likely that will be it [to Kentucky] as well.”

Brown recently took an unofficial to UCLA following the Adidas Nations event in California and he has been on the Georgia and Georgia Tech campuses multiple times.

Before the officials, the 6-foot-6 Marietta (GA) Wheeler wing has home visits set with Kentucky (Sept. 9), Kansas (Sept. 10), UCLA (Sept. 11) and Georgia (probably Sept. 12), his mother said.

Asked about potential official visits to Georgia or Georgia Tech, Michell said, “We’re trying to hash out dates. We’re working on that as well.”
