Garry Ward, the travel team coach for Abdul Gaddy, says Gaddy is still considering Memphis despite the recent news that Memphis self-reported a recruiting violation related to the Bellarmine (Wash.) Prep point guard.
“Since there’s no validity to the story, then I would say, ‘Yes, he’s still considering Memphis,'” Ward said by phone from Orlando.
Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.com broke the news that FedEx president and Tiger booster Dave Bronczek made an improper early July phone call to Oseye Gaddy, Abdul’s mother, who has been a FedEx employee based out of the Seattle area for more than a decade.
Recalling the conversation while watching her son play in a tournament in Las Vegas last week, Oseye Gaddy told FOXSports.com, “I was like, ‘Why would he want to talk to me?’ But the whole time he talked to me, he talked about my son.
“He was just talking to me a little bit about (John) Calipari and the program and then he was telling me about The FedEx Forum and how he goes to a lot of games and sits on the floor,” she added. “How Calipari is a really nice guy.”
Ward said the 6-3, 175-pound Gaddy — who decommitted from Arizona in June — is in the process of narrowing down his college list and would announce his final list by “mid-August.” Entering the Reebok All-American Camp in Philly, Gaddy listed Texas, Arizona and Memphis as the three schools recruiting him the hardest.
“What our plan was going into that was to go undercover for two or three weeks for the decision-making process and then have a news release at that time,” Ward said. “We’ll narrow it down to three to five schools. I have a good understanding of what those schools are.
“He will be in the process of scheduling visits at that point. Once he defines his list, then he will take visits.”
As for when a final decision will come, Ward said, “I do believe he wants to get it done as soon as possible.”

What is Garry smoking? If there is no validity, why did the Tigers self report? Better yet, WHAT did they report… a phone conversation that ever happened???
