Ohio State was always the leader for 6-foot-10 Daniel Giddens of Each 1 Teach 1 and Marietta (Ga.) Wheeler.
And on Thursday, Giddens made it official, pledging to the Buckeyes over Kansas, Georgia, Arizona, Indiana and Florida. Giddens posted an Instagram photo of himself in a Buckeyes T-shirt and hat.
“I talk to them every week; twice, three times a week maybe. There is a great relationship with Coach [Thad] Matta,” Giddens told SNY.tv recently. “They just [have] really told me how they are going to use me in the system.”
Matta sees him as a David West-type player. West played for Matta at Xavier from 2001-2003.
“They want me to be their power forward guy,” Giddens said. “They just want me to come in and fill a role for them, they are losing three people.”
The No. 55 player in the Class of 2015 according to ESPN.com, Giddens is Ohio State’s fourth 2015 commit. He joins point guard AJ Harris of Dayton, Ohio, Texas shooting guard Austin Grandstaff and point-forward Mickey Mitchell, the brother of former OSU linebacker Mike Mitchell.
The Buckeyes have also added two key transfers this offseason in fifth-year senior Anthony Lee of Temple and 7-foot Virginia Tech freshman Trevor Thompson.
