Dupree McBrayer Sets College Visits, Planning Prep School Decision

DuPree McBrayer, a 6-foot-4 guard out of The Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J., has several upcoming college visits and is also on the brink of choosing a prep school for the 2014-15 school year.

McBrayer, whose stock has exploded with his play at The Patrick School and with New Heights in recent months, will begin his college tour by tripping to Providence beginning Friday, his mentor, JR Rembert, told SNY.tv by phone.

McBrayer will also visit Seton Hall June 13, Drexel June 18 and Minnesota June 23. They also hope to visit Rhode Island, Creighton and possibly St. John’s, Rembert said.

Ty Jerome, the 6-2 Iona Prep point guard, will also go on the Rhode Island visit, Rembert said.

Rembert said at this time Minnesota, Seton Hall and Rhode Island remain the favorites.

“I always try to deal with schools where he’s going to have the ball in his hands,” Rembert said. “Most schools want him to play the 2. He’s only 6-3, 6-4.”

As previously reported by SNY.tv, McBrayer will prep next season to prepare for college and is considering Brewster (N.H.) Academy, St. John’s Northwest Military Academy (WI) and Massanutten (VA) Military Academy. Rembert said it will most likely be one of those three, although they are also considering St. Thomas More and South Kent, both in Connecticut.

“We are going to make a decision next week,” Rembert said on prep schools.
