HAMPTON, Va. – After an unofficial visit to Maryland on Friday, Shaker Heights and All-Ohio Red forward Esa Ahmad spoke on Saturday about his time in College Park.
“They just took me around campus, [to] visit the dorms and got to look at the Comcast Center, it was a nice campus,” Ahmad said of the visit preceding his team’s games this weekend at EYBL Session 3.
The All-Ohio Red star has garnered the interest and attention of many schools across the nation recently, picking up offers from UNLV and Ohio State.
While some believed that the 6-foot-8 forward would commit to the Buckeyes when receiving the offer, Ahmad said that was not in the plans.
“I’m still waiting it out, but I like Ohio State,” Ahmad said. “I grew up watching Ohio State and you know visiting there and getting the offer was big for me.”
There is no date set for a commitment, but he is starting to think about cutting down his list.
“I want to start paring things down next month or two, but after the visit [Maryland] really moved up my list,” Ahmad said.
There are also a few more visits to some Midwestern schools coming up soon that Ahmad noted as well.
“I’m planning on visiting West Virginia on Tuesday,” he said, “I think Michigan and Michigan State after that.”
