Oklahoma State’s Murphy Gets Release

Kamari Murphy, a 6-foot-8 sophomore post player from Oklahoma State, has received his release from Oklahoma State, New York Lightning coach Dana Dingle told SNY.tv.

A Brooklyn native and former player at Lincoln High School and IMG Academy, Murphy averaged 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds last season.

“He’s just open right now, just seeing who’s interested and all of that,” Dingle said. “No one school in particular.”

Murphy initially picked Oklahoma State over Florida, Miami, Missouri, UConn, Auburn and Louisville in August 2011 out of IMG.

Oklahoma State previously lost senior swingman Brian Williams, who is transferring to Louisiana-Lafayette and will be eligible to play immediately.

Jared Terrell, a guard out of Brewster (N.H.) Academy, also got out of his Letter of Intent to Oklahoma State and has visited Boston College and Rhode Island.
