Marvin Clark is headed to Michigan State, he announced on Monday morning.

A 6-foot-7 post-graduate small forward from Sunrise Christian (KS) whose father died when he was very young and later lived in various homeless shelters, Clark also considered Indiana, Kansas State and Seton Hall.

“[Michigan State] was the most genuine place I had visited and I saw it at its worst [after they lost to Illinois],” Clark told SNY.tv. “It felt like a place I could call home for the next four years.

“Coach Tom Izzo told me I would be vital in the run for next year. He told me I’m an athletic scorer.”

Sunrise Christian coach Kyle Lindsted says he can be a major factor.

“He’s a shooter, he’s a big-time shooter, scorer,” Lindsted said. “He’s had 30 on several of the Kansas JUCOs as we play them. He had 30 on Hutchinson [Community College] in one 20-minute scrimmage, so he’s capable of big numbers.”

Clark said he will bring “hard work, scoring, rebounding. And I gotta work on defending and gotta get better.”

Clark joins point guard Lourawls Nairn and small forward Javon Bess in Michigan State’s 2014 recruiting class. The Spartans play in the Sweet 16 against Virginia Friday night at Madison Square Garden.
