Big-Time Schools Coming After 2016 Point Guard Jamal Murray

2013 Jordan Brand ClassicThe recruitment of 2016 Canadian point guard Jamal Murray is heating up.

Larry Blunt, head coach at Athlete Institute in Orangeville, Ontario, told SNY.tv that Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Syracuse and Georgetown are all coming after Murray hard and plan to offer him soon.

“It’s heating up,” Blunt told SNY.tv. “It’s picking up going into his junior year. A lot of people are waiting until they can legally offer him.”

Murray has been compared to Syracuse freshman point guard Tyler Ennis, and could be the next great Canadian point guard from the CIA Bounce AAU program.

Blunt said Athlete Institute is working on joining a league in Canada which will officially make it a scholastic institution according to the NCAA. He declined to mention the name of the league because plans aren’t finalized.

Once that happens, coaches from American schools will be able to attend practices and games and the recruitment of Murray and his teammates should pick up.
