Friday is a big day for Kansas hoops.
Uncommitted big man Myles Turner enjoyed his visit to Kansas, which began on Wednesday and concluded today.
“Kansas really rolled out the red carpet,” David Turner, Myles’ father, told Matt Scott of TheShiver.com.
Kansas head coach Bill Self previously told the Turners that his program might not be the best fit if Joel Embiid sticks around for another year but Embiid is widely projected as a top-three pick in the NBA Draft.
Turner heads to Duke today for tomorrow’s game with North Carolina.
HIs father previously said he expected his son might also visit Texas going forward. He has already visited Ohio State and Oklahoma State officially and Texas A&M and SMU unofficially.
In the above video, Turner talks about the process.
Meantime, Kansas signee Cliff Alexander on Friday was named the Naismith National High School Player of the Year. This, after his Chicago Curie team had to forfeit the city championship game after seven players were found to be ineligible.
Asked recently by SNY.tv if he thought he was the top player in the nation, the 6-9 Alexander said: “I think I earned it. I’ve played up to this point and I think I earned it, to be the No. 1 player in the country.”
As for the idea of potentially playing alongside Turner, Alexander said: “It is what it is,” said Alexander. “I think we’d fit in. He blocks shots and does the same things I do. I think it’d be a dominant combo.”
Meantime, Alexander’s close friend and another Kansas target, Huntington Prep guard JaQuan Lyle, begins an official visit to Memphis today and is expected to decide later this month. He’s also considering Oregon and Oklahoma State.
