Pitino Expected to See Jackson Davis as Coaches Flock to Recruit Him (UPDATED)

Jackson DavisThe latest on the Jackson Davis recruitment is this.

Louisville head coach Rick Pitino and associate head coach Kevin Keatts are expected to watch him Friday night when Lafayette plays Henry Clay in the first round of the Kentucky 11th Region tournament, his father told SNY.tv.

“They moved practice up an hour so Rick can get there in time,” Johnathon Davis said by phone.

Louisville hosts UConn on Saturday.

There had been some confusion earlier Thursday about whether the elder Pitino might come, but Johnathan said Keatts told him they were both coming.

Meantime, Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino may also be in the house. Indiana, Georgia, Rice, Florida State, Notre Dame, Alabama and Mississippi State are expected to watch Davis.

Asked if his phone was ringing off the hook, Johnathon said, “To say the least. I’m exhausted.”

Boston College coach Steve Donahue and Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory both had successful in-home visits Wednesday night with Davis and his family, with BC offering as a result.

Jackson, who decommitted from Rice over the weekend, also holds offers from Florida State, UCF, Butler, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Rice.

“We’re going to wait until after the state playoffs to take visits,” Johnathon Davis, a former Kentucky player, said of his son. “We’re just gathering info right now.”
