Aquille Carr to Work out for Puerto Rican Team

Aquille Carr will work out for Atleticos de San German of the Puerto Rican league on Monday, Todd Washington of the Puerto Rico Playmakers Foundation told SNY.tv.

“We reached out last year to Aquille through his high school coach, Coach Van Whitfield, to see if we could help the young fella get on his feet,” Washington said. “Clearly, Aquille has matured and is ready to play at this level. The BSN is a highly competitive league with NBA-level talent.

“Our basketball training and development program, Puerto Rico Playmakers, has created opportunities for several stateside players to play professionally and on national teams. Aquille’s agent, Daniel Hazan, is in direct contact with the team owner.”

The 5-foot-6 Carr was waived last month by the Delaware 87ers, the NBA D-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. He was averaging 10.7  points and 1.9 assists.

Carr was selected by Delaware  with the ninth pick of the third round in the 2013 NBA Development League Draft.

He was one of three NBA Draft-eligible players playing this season in the NBA D-League and one of two players to play this season in the D-League without having played in college.

The onetime Seton Hall pledge has said all along his goal is to reach the NBA.
