NEW YORK — Sherrod Wright shot, drove and jumped his way into a personal highlight film and propelled his Mount Vernon team into the championship game of the SNY Invitational.
The 6-foot-4 senior wing had a game-high 32 points, 10 rebounds and five steals to lift the Knights to a 76-65 victory over Thomas Jefferson of Brooklyn in the first game of the doubleheader at NYU’s Coles Center.
Mount Vernon (9-2) will meet St. Raymonds of The Bronx (10-5) in Saturdays title game at 8 p.m. on SNY.

Mount Vernon coach Bob Cimmino says South Carolina and Oklahoma State lead for Wright’s services at this point. Wright will wait until the NCAA late signing period in April to sign.
“Those are the two leaders right now,” Cimmino said.
Wright visited South Carolina last fall, but has yet to visit Travis Ford and Oklahoma State.
“I visited [South Carolina] so it’s one of my best,” Wright said. “I liked the environment. And they play the type of style that I like. It’s overall good.”
As for Oklahoma State, Wright has yet to visit.
“I might take an official, I don’t know,” he said. “I haven’t talked to them yet. I’m just taking it day by day.” Fordham, Manhattan and Hofstra are involved and trying to keep Wright local. “I’m just listening to them and seeing if I’m going to do this or that,” he said. “I don’t know if I want to stay local or if I want to go away.”
