COLUMBIA, S.C. –– Derrick Jones put on a solid showing with 13 points and 7 rebounds on Saturday at the Chick Fil A Classic in a 54-47 win over Thon Maker and Carlisle (Va.) in front of a crowd that included North Carolina assistant Steve Robinson.

“I feel like I played OK today,” Jones told SNY.tv after the game. “We have another game tomorrow, so I’m gonna need to play better, but I felt like I played okay today.”

Ranked 18th in the Class of 2015 by ESPN, Jones is a 6-foot-6, 190 pound lefty out of Radnor Archbishop John Carroll (Pa.) who has an ever-improving jump shot, and athletic ability that is undeniable.  He recently received an offer from Indiana, and got one from Arizona in September. His stock has been rising since last summer.

“Syracuse, Kansas, Kentucky, Villanova, Temple, St. Joe’s, UNC and UConn are recruiting me the hardest right now,” Jones said. “I don’t have any favorites right now, I’m just focusing on my junior year, and will think about it more when the season ends.”

Jones wants a good atmosphere at college.

“I’m gonna see if I feel comfortable at each school when I take the visit,” Jones said. “Comfortable with the coaching staff, the players, and the school. But right now, I’m just gonna see who calls the most, and then I’ll see where I’ll take my visits.”
