Calipari, Kennedy Watch Myles Turner

Kentucky coach John Calipari and assistant Orlando Antigua,Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy, Texas assistant Chris Ogden and Duke assistant Nate James were among those watching Myles Turner put on a show Thursday night.

The 6-foot-11, 225-pound Turner finished with 29 points, 15 rebounds and 9 blocks as Turner and Trinity (TX) beat Homeschool Christian (TX), 57-53, on ESPNU.

North Carolina pledge Justin Jackson scored 29 in the loss.

Turner currently lists Ohio State, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, Texas and Oklahoma State, and plans to sign late.

Having visited Ohio State officially, he will next visit Oklahoma State beginning Friday. Marcus Smart and the Cowboys play South Carolina Friday night.

Kentucky has four players signed for 2014 in Tyler Ulis, Devin Booker, Trey Lyles and Karl Towns Jr., but Calipari said recently that he planned to sign two more in the spring.

Turner, shooting guard Rashad Vaughn and forward Jonah Bolden are all still on the board. Vaughn and Bolden play together at Findlay Prep.

Kentucky is involved with both of those players as well, with Vaughn telling SNY.tv that he has added Kentucky back on his list.

Despite landing Jahlil Okafor, Duke remains in the mix for Turner.

“Duke is definitely still in the picture,” David Turner, Miles’ father, recently told SNY.tv. “Myles would have an opportunity to play for Coach K. Jahlil and Myles could coexist. In fact, I think they make a pretty formidable 4/5 combo.”

Meantime, ESPN’s Paul Biancardi reported that Turner told him he would also consider Texas A&M.

“I really like Coach Kennedy and I’m going to give Texas A&M a look,” Biancardi quoted Turner as saying.
