St. John’s has offered scholarships to a pair of Thomas Jefferson standouts, 6-foot-6 junior forward Joel “Air Jamaica” Wright and 6-1 sophomore guard Davontay Grace.
“They offered Joel and Davontay,” Jefferson coach Lawrence Pollard said Wednesday. “I think Davontay is going to go there. He likes it. I think he wants to play for Norm [Roberts]. He likes it there.”
As for Wright, he holds offers from St. John’s, Providence, West Virginia, Central Florida and Fordham.
“Providence is putting the fullcourt press on him,” Pollard said. “Fordham is putting the fullcourt press on him. He wants to commit soon.”
Wright has more than 1,500 career points and is closing in on 1,000 rebounds.
Elsewhere, Providence is hot on the trail of 6-5 Paterson Catholic junior Fuquan Edwin, who scored 26 points in Monday’s win over Wright and Jefferson at the Freedom Fighters Challenge in Paterson, N.J.
Seton Hall has also offered, and Edwin would seem to be a perfect fit for the Pirates’ up-tempo system.
“Fuquan Edwin scores like we breathe,” recruiting expert Tom Konchalski said.

Adam, can the Johnnies expect a verbal from Grace anytime soon? From anyone in the 2010 class?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Adam. By one of these guys do you mean Wright or Grace and do you mean to St. John’s?
