Kelan Martin to Butler

Kelan Martin, a 6-foot-5 small forward from Louisville Ballard, committed to Butler over St. Louis on Monday.

Martin is ranked No. 143 by Rivals in the Class of 2014.

“I chose Butler because it’s the right fit for me,” he told SNY.tv. “I really want to come in and play right away close to home also. I have a good relationship with the players and coaching staff. I come in as a wing player who can play inside and out.”

Martin joins 6-7  St. John (IN) Lake Central center Tyler Wideman in new coach Brandon Miller’s 2014 class.

“[Martin] is a volume scorer,” Indiana Elite coach Barry Kroot told SNY.tv. “He’s a 3/4 mismatch. He will be able to dribble by a bigger 4 and he can post a smaller 3. He is a great mid-ranger shooter which is obviously a lost art. He provides Butler with a player they don’t currently have on the roster with his offensive skillset.”

Butler enters the Big East this season.
