K.J. Lee to Marist

KJ Lee 2K.J. Lee, a 6-foot-4 guard from The Salisbury (Conn.) School and Huntington Station, N.Y., committed to Marist Sunday during his official visit.

A former Long Island Lutheran player, Lee also considered Tulsa.

“He chose Marist because coach Jeff Bower and the staff made him feel comfortable and they assured him they would help to improve his game,” Kenneth Lee, K.J.’s father, told SNY.tv. “He was also happy that they wanted him to play point guard for them. He is hoping that his defensive skills and ability to get to the rim as well as good decision-making will help maximize the team’s potential.”

Said Lee’s mentor, Mike Moore: “K.J. has tremendous upside. He’s a legitimate 6-4 guard who can play both the 1 and the 2. He can hit the mid- or long–range shot but is definitely a pass-first guard. He’s able to break a defense down, no matter if it’s a man or zone defense. HE has a high basketball IQ and plays with patience, focus and determination. Over the last year, his improvement has been obvious and a joy to see. His hard work is paying off.”
