Corey Henson to Wagner

Corey Henson, a 6-foot-2 1/2, 170-pound shooting guard from DeMatha Catholic, committed to Wagner on Thursday.

A knock-down shooter and skilled guard, Henson also held offers from Robert Morris, Navy, Iona, New Hampshire and Fairfield, among others.

“Wagner loves me,” Henson told SNY.tv. “The staff and players make me feel like family and I think coach Bash [Mason] will help me to achieve all the goals I have set for myself and make it an easy transition to the next level.”

DeMatha coach Mike Jones told the Washington Post of Henson: “He’s shot well, he’s leading by example and he’s shown he can play point guard when we need him.”

Said Henson: “I’m an excellent shooter and I can put the ball on the floor, but most importantly my IQ is what will make me stand out on that next level. I look to bring some toughness and match the intensity Bash brings day in and day out.”

Henson joins Joe “Jojo” Cooper, a 6-foot, 190-pound guard, from Tatnall (DE) High, in Wagner’s 2014 class.
