VCU Bolsters Class With Michael Gilmore

VCU bolstered its already strong recruiting class Thursday when Michael Gilmore, a 6-foot-9 forward from Tallahassee (FL) Rickards, picked the Rams over Kansas State.

“Definitely was a tough decision,” Gilmore told SNY.tv, indicating that K-State was his second choice. “VCU stood out because of the great coaching staff and situation that can definitely put me in the position to succeed.”

A versatile four man with a great stroke, Gilmore –the nephew of former NBA big man Artis Gilmore — is perfect for VCU’s style.

“I will bring the ability to stretch the floor as well as be a mismatch problem on ‘D’,” he said.

He is coach Shaka Smart’s fourth pledge in 2014, joining 5-11 St. Benedict’s Prep guard Jon Williams, 6-7 Team Scan wing Terry Larrier of the Phelps (Pa.) School and 6-7 Detroit Pershing power forward Justin Tillman.
