Kentucky-Bound Towns Scores 16 in Dominican Win

Karl Towns, the Kentucky bound 7-footer from St. Joe’s-Metuchen, scored a team-high 16 points and four rebounds Tuesday in the Dominican Republic’s 83-54 win over Paraguay at the FIBA Americas Championship in Venezuela.

The Dominicans, coached by Kentucky assistant Orlando Antigua, are 2-2 entering Thursday’s game with Jamaica.

Towns was selected for the recent Elite 24 game in Brooklyn, but was unable to attend because of his commitment to the Dominican team.

Towns is Kentucky’s lone 2014 pledge at this point, but that figures to change in the coming weeks as Kentucky, as usual, is involved with many of the top players in the Class.

Towns and St. Joe’s teammate Wade Baldwin are both headed to the SEC next season after Baldwin recently committed to Vanderbilt on his ZAGSBLOG Player Blog.
