Randall Receives NCAA Waiver to Play at Pitt

By MATT SUGAM

What an NCAA source told SNY.tv was expected to happen has now happened.

Pitt’s Derrick Randall has received a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately, sources close to the situation confirmed to SNY.tv after it was reported by The Sporting News.

The 6-foot-9 Randall transfered from Rutgers following the Mike Rice fallout.

Randall is the third Rutgers player to be granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA, following Vincent Garrett at Green Bay and Mike Poole at Iona.

Rutgers transfer Eli Carter – who is now at Florida – is still waiting to receive a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately, but an NCAA source told SNY.tv yesterday he was expected to.
